# AsylumCompass > Independent public information about the U.S. asylum system, published government records and their limits. This guide connects a question to a resource, an identified entity, its facts and coverage, and a verifiable citation. AsylumCompass is not a government agency or a law firm. Other reading languages: [Español](https://asylumcompass.com/es/llms.txt) · [简体中文](https://asylumcompass.com/zh/llms.txt). Core machine methods: [methodology](https://asylumcompass.com/methodology.md), [definitions](https://asylumcompass.com/definitions.md), [sources](https://asylumcompass.com/sources.md). ## Start with the question Read the [resource catalog](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/catalog.json) for real addresses, supported formats and languages, directory entrances and current capabilities. Use [statistics navigation](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/topics/statistics.md) to find an entity or a cohort tool, [coverage navigation](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/topics/coverage.md) when numbers are missing, and [methods navigation](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/topics/methods.md) to check a definition or source. Resolve an entity in its directory before requesting facts. Names can be shared, historical labels can remain, and different source codes must stay separate. Preserve source-code case and the stable resource ID. A translated label is a finding aid, not a new identity or confirmation of citizenship. - [USCIS offices and interview locations](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/entities/uscis-offices.json) - [Courts](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/entities/courts.json) - [Judges](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/entities/judges.json) - [Nationality categories](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/entities/nationalities.json) Follow nextUrl until null. Pages start at one at each entrance; subsequent pages begin at two. Entries are sorted by stable ID. All pages share catalogRevision: if a later page has a different revision, restart from the first page. Do not construct a second address for page one. Directory metadata explains when an entity has HTML only; never append a machine suffix to such a page. ## Read facts and coverage together Each listed representation has its actual format and locale. HTML profiles have existing English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese pages where declared. Entity JSON and Markdown have English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese representations at explicit URLs. Use locale en, es or zh-CN in the publication; source codes, names without trusted translations and machine enums remain unchanged. Use only the representation URLs returned for that entity. JSON is the structured reading contract; Markdown is readable text. The HTML profile remains the entity canonical. In JSON, publication describes resource identity, selection, coverage, metrics, sources and citation. Read an individual metric's population and period before using its value. The [publication schema](https://asylumcompass.com/schemas/publication-v1.json) describes structure; [discovery schema](https://asylumcompass.com/schemas/resource-catalog-v1.json) describes catalog and directory pages. Validation also checks domain meaning. EOIR counts eligible proceeding records, not unique people or cases. Recorded grant share is grants divided by grants plus denials; other outcomes remain outside that denominator. USCIS office counts concern I-589 applications, which may include dependents. Its approval share uses all recorded completions, including referrals and closures. Workbook completion definitions differ across editions. These measures are not interchangeable or predictions for an individual. A judge code associates source records; it does not prove that a named person made each decision. Keep confirmation, historical linkage and the current checked listing separate. Nationality means the recorded EOIR category, not verified citizenship. An interview location does not inherit another office's statistics. Missing numbers are unknown unless the verified source model establishes zero. A verified count of zero can be reported; a verified zero denominator is not calculable, not zero percent. Source-suppressed values stay withheld. A blank field does not establish that an application is pending or undecided. Technical errors are failures, not successful zero-valued statistics. Judge source coverage covers the edition across courts and stored dates, independently of the summary period and current filters. Inspect identity linkage, raw proceedings, asylum linkage, inclusion/exclusion, dates and outcomes. Missing dates and missing outcomes may overlap: do not add them as separate records. No dated detail does not mean no source records. ## Exact selections and other collections The existing [HTML Context tool](https://asylumcompass.com/context) supports court, judge, nationality and period selections. Resolve codes first, keep the exact selection, and inspect its availability. A missing intersection does not authorize substituting a wider population. Entity summaries keep their default scope when query parameters are added. Other public HTML collections are listed with their actual representations in the catalog; use [exact Context JSON](https://asylumcompass.com/context.json?period=fy2025), [Context Markdown](https://asylumcompass.com/context.md?period=fy2025) and [OpenAPI](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/openapi.json) for the implemented machine query. MCP is not available. ## Cite and verify Use the entity's citation title and HTML URL. Retain the metric period, population, numerator, denominator and definition, source release IDs and applicable data-through date. Source observation/check dates and content revisions are different from record coverage dates. Do not infer a complete fiscal year from today's date, pool separate courts, or present derived shares as official report quotations. Follow [sources](https://asylumcompass.com/sources) for official URLs, saved editions and available hashes, [methodology](https://asylumcompass.com/methodology) and [definitions](https://asylumcompass.com/definitions) for meaning, and [updates](https://asylumcompass.com/updates) for recorded changes. A current URL may reflect a later release; preserve source versions with a citation. Published aggregates use CC0-1.0; applicant-level records are not published. Exact queries: [Context JSON](https://asylumcompass.com/context.json?court=DEN&judge=MKC&nationality=MX&period=fy2025) · [Context Markdown](https://asylumcompass.com/context.md?court=DEN&judge=MKC&nationality=MX&period=fy2025) · [Context response schema](https://asylumcompass.com/schemas/context-response-v1.json) · [OpenAPI](https://asylumcompass.com/llms/openapi.json) · [Data methodology](https://asylumcompass.com/methodology.md). Only court, judge, nationality and period; unknown names and duplicates are errors. Keep each metric’s population and denominator. ## National motion records and official motions National, all four included topics, received date, 2025-09–2026-08.
