Compare recorded asylum grant shares and counts under two judge codes in the same period. Each needs at least 100 grant-or-denial records; a judge code identifies the assigned judge, not the author of every decision.

Judge figures group saved asylum outcomes by the judge code on each EOIR proceeding. The code identifies the assigned judge; these records do not verify who personally made every application decision. How judge figures work

First selection minus second selection; a negative number means the first share is lower.

Use historical results to understand past cases, not to forecast an individual outcome.

What does a missing number mean?

No public number
The source has no usable published figure for this selection, or the selected comparison has too few records to calculate a stable difference. Complete EOIR count tables show every observed group. Check the source and period before treating an absent group as zero.
Blank source field
The record exists, but that field was not filled in. A blank outcome does not tell us whether the case is still pending.
Zero
A published count of 0. A dash, an unavailable figure or no matching search results does not mean zero cases.

Source and counting rules

Grants ÷ (grants + denials) among eligible asylum proceeding records. One proceeding event is the unit; this is not a count of unique people.

Source files and checks

Removal, deportation, exclusion and asylum-only proceedings. ASYL grant codes G/I/P; denial D. Other outcomes are excluded from this denominator. Conflicting applications and inconsistent case links are excluded.

Judge attribution uses the proceeding’s IJ_CODE assignment. It does not establish who personally authored every decision. Court attribution uses the proceeding’s recorded court, which may differ from historical hearing venue.

This interval describes binomial sampling variability only; it does not account for administrative errors, case mix, attribution uncertainty, or selection bias.

The source has known malformed lines: 357 physical lines were rejected; accepted logical rows are 262 below EOIR’s count file. Statistics describe accepted records. The official asylum report uses a different unit and will not exactly match these totals.
