Notice of Hearing

Read what this document means and which official system to check.

What is this?

A hearing notice tells you about a scheduled immigration-court appearance. It can set or change the date, location, time or hearing format.

What does it generally mean?

Master calendar hearings generally cover preliminary matters. Individual calendar hearings address contested matters and evidence. A later scheduling notice can differ from the earlier NTA.

What to look at on the document

  • Date the notice was issued and the case it identifies
  • Hearing date and time, including any time-zone instructions
  • Court or remote-hearing connection instructions
  • Master calendar or individual calendar hearing description
  • Instructions about appearance and any later replacement notice

Which system to check

Compare the notice with EOIR case information and the court’s official contact page. Resolve conflicting details through the court or your representative. A request to change arrangements is not itself permission to miss the scheduled hearing.

Common next questions

What if I cannot find the notice? Ask the court or representative for the record. What if I missed the date? Verify whether an order was issued and read the missed-hearing guide promptly.
